INSPIRATION - The Sketchbook project
It's like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks.
Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the world.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the
permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be
barcoded and available for the public to view.
Anyone - from anywhere in the world - can be a part of the project. To participate and have us send you a sketchbook that will go on tour, start by choosing a theme to the right.

ART - JOHN VON BERGEN
John von Bergen is a US born artist who has been based in Berlin for the
last eight years. His studio, a large space in Wedding, is a true
working space – John works primarily with sculpture and installation,
and his material experiments, works-in-progress, and many completed
works are installed around the walls.
Everything is installed in such a way that it was virtually impossible to tell where
the wall ended and the sculpture began. Protruding out, the work appears
as a fantastical extension of the wall reaching out into the room. For
his show at the project space Smack Mellon last year, John took this
strategy to an extreme – creating a 45 foot (15 meter) large-scale,
site-specific work that appeared to emerge from the walls of the gallery
itself. The piece, Whip Lash, appeared to involve a large metallic
pillar (cast from an actual pillar in the gallery) being supported
mid-air by two huge wall ‘protrusions.’ The usually neutral and austere
white wall of the space was transformed into an almost antagonistic
force – one defying physics, logic and reality.

Come poter descrivere il Caffè Concerto?

Innanzitutto, non è facile trovare il posto, situato in una laterale di Favaro veneto, l'atmosfera al suo interno è unica ed irripetibile. Arredato come uno dei migliori pub, in realtà costituisce un ibrido della nuova ristorazione. Sedute dagli schienali alti che circondano ogni tavolino come se fosse a se stante; luce soffusa, interniin legno e sileniosi televisori sparsi qua e là che mandano in ripetuta concerti live.
Il servizio è eccellente, cordiali e ancor più simpatici. Presentano una vasta selezione anche per i più difficili: dal club sandwich più tradizionale, alla carne, al pesce fresco di girnata ed anche un menù vegetariano. Si può parlare di cucina tradizionale in quanto i sapori sono delle nostre terre, ma niente e dico niente, di ciò che potresti aspettarti è così come te lo immagini. Gigi, il proprietario ama il suo lavoro. Lo possiamo constatare nel momento in cui apriamo il menu e cominciamo a leggere dove la sua passione si tramuta in arte. Alterazioni molecolari del cibo, accostamenti di sapori bizzari e geniali, passaggi di stato da solido a liquido, come la spuma di patate ( e di zucca, la consiglio caldamente!!).
Una soffice spuma che si dissolve nella bocca, un rave per le papille gustative

JEWEL DESIGN - Werkstatt
Silver and goldsmith Klaus Lohmeyer´s jewellery label and studio Werkstatt:München
are one of a kind Munich creations. Before he started his own
collection, the talented Munich artist with a unique expressive taste
was responsible for the development and production of the Kostas
Murkudis jewellery line. Although his studio is fully stretched to
accommodate clients from all over the world, Lohmeyer additionally
designs the women's line of Ann Demeulemeester.
Werkstatt:München includes necklaces, bracelets, pendants and rings
as well as edgy cuff links, key rings and even belts and caps. The
jewellery is characterised by Lohmeyer´s passion for detail and
craftsmanship, which is showcased in the truest sense of the word.
All products are handmade and hammered, all of which is typical for
the label where the creators leave little features of their handwork in
each piece. Ensuring it is something emotional and valuable for the
owner. For Lohmeyer, luxury isn't just the time and devotion that is put
into the fabrication of his expressive pieces in sterling silver,
leather or gold - rather he aims for his pieces to embellish the wearers
and to add to a person's handsomeness and personality without being
intrusive.

With the rising reputation of the Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair,
it now celebrates its fifth year. Under the new direction of Massimo
Torrigiani, the fifth edition of the fair captures and amplifies the new
wave of creativity which is running through the region. Mixing high and
popular culture, the academic and the experimental, the established and
the emerging, new and old media, highbrow and lowbrow, the global and
the local. This year's focus embodies the vision with the renewed participation of the leading galleries of China together with a selected group of other Asian, European and American galleries. Where does all your junk come from? --> Garage cleaners and suctions. Also costumers bringing us their own sentimental junk to be costum-made and reproposed.
Can you recall the first piece of forniture you made? --> Yes, I "decorated" an old chair in art class at school while all the other kids were painting pictures.
South African interior designer Katie Thompson makes junk awesome with Recreate.
What do you do? --> Create repurposed forniture and lighting under the brand Recreate
Described your style --> Recreate pieces don't fall under a specific design style - the junk item they originate from usually dictates the style the end products will be, wich can be anything from shabby chic to ultra modern.

Have you have to learn new skills along the way to make the pieces? --> Absolutely. I learn something new almost every day!
What kind of junk stuff are you most attracted to? --> I have a suitecase fetish!
ART - Bassano street art
“IN INFART WE TRUST” è il concept, all’apparenza pretenzioso, scelto dal collettivo. In realtà credere nel Festival significa credere nella città che lo ospita, avere fiducia nelle potenzialità di una piccola realtà che riesce a calamitare su di sé l’attenzione e l’interesse della scena artistica a livello europeo.
Sessanta artisti della scena contemporanea nazionale e internazionale interverranno in quattro diverse location del centro storico, con performance ed installazioni, esposizioni e opere site specific, concerti live e dj set. Cuore pulsante del Festival è stata l’Arena Cimberle-Ferrari, nel centro della città, teatro di performance artistiche e musicali con grandi nomi della street art e della scena elettronica nazionale ed internazionale.

Orticanoodles è lo pseudonimo di due giovani artisti italiani: Wally e Alita, indivisibili nell’arte e nella vita.
Wally nasce a Carrara dove frequenta il Liceo Artistico e si iscrive all’Accademia di Belle Arti fino a quando non si trasferisce a Milano per frequentare il corso di Art Direction Pubblicitario presso lo IED.
Entrambi innamorati della tecnica dello stencil, cominciano a creare insieme disegni e murales e si fanno conoscere velocemente nell’ambiente della street art internazionale. Nel 2004 partono le prime azioni in strada di stickeraggio e paste up. Insieme alla TSO crew, si lanciano in vere e proprie
campagne/anticampagne di affissione e guerriglia urbana. Alla fine del 2006 Orticanoodles firma le prime tele che vengono esposte in collettive di tutta Europa, in Australia e in America. Partecipano anche a numerosi festival di arte urbana; da segnalare il Cans Festival di Londra, in cui, su invito di Bansky, realizzano uno stencil su muro di dimensioni 4×3 metri...

A dicembre dello stesso anno, un importante commissione da parte del comune di Lugano [Ch] permette la realizzazione del piu grande stencil fatto fino ad oggi, 10×5 metri su una parete cieca di un edificio in centro città.
Per Orticanoodles fare stencil significa esclusivamente comunicare e lo fa mescolando materiale simbolico, miti e protagonisti della società di massa, gestendo tutto con disinvoltura e rivisitando l’immaginario collettivo in chiave POP con uno sguardo ironico e pungente. Artisti estremamente versatili ed eclettici, ad oggi ha esposto anche all’interno di importanti istituzioni museali e spazi espositivi sia nazionali che esteri anche se è sempre aperto a nuove azioni più libere per strada.
