DYI- FLOATING VASE

That's a great idea! Few things to do and you can gain space 
making a "piece of art".

Following the instruction of Emily, 
there are 5 simple steps:

 

1- Buy a piece of wood (approximately 7″ x 6″ x 1/2″)that I sloppily painted white for a worn-in feel.
 

2- . Find a small vase or jar (the ne for the paint, the jam) that has a lip at the top.Position it on the wood and drill two holes on either side at the the base of the opening.

 

3- Wrap steel wire around the lip of the jar a few times and twist it once until it’s secure. Position the jar so that it’s lined up on the wood and poke the ends through the small holes that you drilled.  Wrap them together in the back and clip any extra wire.

 

4- Drill two additional holes at the top of the wood and wrap a second piece of steel wire through leaving a large loop at the top.  Twist the ends around the base and clip off the extra wire.

 

5- Add your flovers!

Pour Me Some Light

Human actions play such a significant role in design; it’s either evident in the form or in the function. In the Pouring Light, the action is evident in the form and is delightfully executed as well! With the motive of giving off “an emotional flow of light”, the lights linger on with a mesmerizing effect thanks to the use of phosphorescence in the “water” part. Yeongwoo suggests the use of LED lights to conserve energy, and my suggestion to him: get this in the market ASAP!

INTERIOR DESIGN - Memphis

Memphis è il grande fenomeno culturale degli anni 80 che ha rivoluzionato le logiche creativo-commerciali del mondo del Design.
Nata da un’operazione culturale avviata da Ettore Sottsass e da un gruppo di giovani architetti e designers milanesi a cui si sono aggiunti, poco dopo, alcuni fra i più famosi designers della scena internazionale, Memphis ha sconvolto e ribaltato tutti quanti i presupposti esistenti fino allora circa l’idea dell’abitare.
Con Ettore Sottsass come colonna portante  del gruppo, il design ha acquisito una nuova concezione espressiva legata a nuove forme, nuovi materiali e nuovi patterns ribaltando i precedenti limiti creativi imposti dall’industria.
Il movimento Memphis è così diventato il simbolo quasi mitico del “Nuovo Design”.
La sua influenza è ancora evidente in moltissimi settori della produzione e non solo.

Memphis group founded by Ettore Sottsass in 1980 held a retrospective exhibition titled 'memphis blues' at the galleria carla sozzani earlier this year. curated by barbara radice,the set of exhibition was designed by michele de lucchi and the graphic work was by cristoph radl. sottsass called memphis design the new international style and plunged the sophisticated and influential milan design world into a labyrinth of visual irony, puns and provocations.the standards of 'good form' design that had been considered unassailable for years lost their claim to timeless validity for sottsass and his fellow-workers. the idea they had in common was to eliminate the peaceful conformity of furniture design and present concrete alternativesto the late 70s standard formal culture. the group existed until 1988.
